Virtual personal training?
When we think of personal training, be that for pregnancy, postnatal, menopause or just general fitness. We think of seeing a personal trainer, physically in the same space as we are. Very few of us consider other options being available for bespoke, personalised fitness training. Even in terms of workout classes, our immediate thoughts are that these happen in person, with the trainer in the same place.
When it comes to ‘online’ fitness we tend to think of generic, low cost programmes that anyone can purchase (or get for free) and follow along.
But now, the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic has changed all of that. In person training was no longer possible. Enter Virtual Personal Training.
What is virtual pregnancy, postnatal or menopause personal training?
Pretty much what it says on the tin. It’s personal training, delivered live by a specialist personal trainer (me!) on a 1-2-1 (or small group) basis. Sessions are run via a virtual provider, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Skype.
You get all the benefits of face to face personal training. A trainer who knows your situation and the type of exercise that will work best for you. Delivered virtually at a time that is convenient for you.
Whatever your set up at home. Whatever equipment you have available. I work to create a bespoke fitness plan that fits into your lifestyle. Whether you have a fully stacked fitness suite, or no equipment at all. There is a fitness plan that will work for you and your needs.
What are the benefits of virtual personal training?
A bespoke plan:
Everyone has different goals and different requirements from their personal training. Whether you’re pregnant and looking to stay as healthy as possible throughout your pregnancy. A new (or not so new) mum wanting to get back in shape. But worried about how to do it safely and effectively. Or trying to navigate the choppy waters of the peri and post menopause. You need a programme that is tailored for you and where you are.
Accountability:
Investing in a virtual personal trainer means you have someone to keep you accountable. It’s easy to have a bad few days and feel like you shouldn’t bother. Having a personal trainer to keep you on track is invaluable. All of my clients get access to an app. Where they can log workouts, nutrition and message me if they need some help.
No geographical constraints:
I often get enquiries from people who need a specialist pregnancy or postnatal personal trainer. But who are out of my catchment for travel in Surrey. Often people can’t find a local specialist personal trainer to see them through their pregnancy. Help with their postnatal recovery. Or help them with menopause fitness. Or they can’t find one they want to work with in their local area. Offering a virtual service means that I can work with anyone, no matter their location. Whether you’re looking for a postnatal personal trainer in Sussex. Pregnancy personal trainer in Newcastle. Or menopause personal trainer in Dublin. I can help you! Virtually of course. In fact the only constraints on virtual personal training are that the time zones need to work for us!
Convenience:
You don’t have to get out of the house. You don’t even have to get dressed in full gym gear if you don’t want to. As long as you have clothes you can move in, we can do a virtual personal training session. There’s flexibility built into this form of training. Which means you’re more likely to be able to find the time to do it.
Lower cost:
There is a lot that goes into the price of a training session. (My expertise, planning and support to name a few elements). But one of the cost elements I need to factor in for my F2F clients are travel costs and time. With virtual pregnancy, postnatal or menopause training I can pass on the savings of those usual costs to my clients. You get everything you get face to face, but for a discounted price. Doesn’t that sound good?
What are the downsides of virtual personal training?
It is always nice to have face to face, in person contact which isn’t possible during a virtual session. However, working with me virtually really isn’t that different to face to face. There are a couple of minor downsides in that I can’t physically adjust you during movements. However I like to think I’m pretty good at explaining movement cues. In a way that makes the need for physical touch less of an issue! There can also be occasional technical glitches during an online session. However, after 4 months of working purely online. I can count on one hand the number of times a session has been disrupted.
I’m in! Where do I sign up?
I would love to work with you and help you through whatever stage of life you are at. Whether you’re pregnant, have recently had a baby, had your children years ago, or are facing menopause. Let’s have a chat! Contact me and we can set up a virtual meeting. Where we can discuss your needs, what you are looking for and how I can help.
